What Are HUD Homes?

HUD homes are homes that the mortgage was insured by one of two government entities: FHA or HUD. The homeowner doesn't make their mortgage payments and the home is foreclosed on by the lender that was insured.  HUD then puts the home back on the market at a fair market value based on condition and area home sales.  These homes are sold "AS IS" and no repairs will be made.  So, what you see is what you get.  For this reason, it is strongly encouraged that you have a home inspection performed by a qualified, licensed inspector.
